High Quality Dark Roast Organic Coffee

This coffee is great! The flavor is bold but not bitter. This one is very much a dark coffee. I save so much money making this at home rather than going to a coffee shop. I like that is comes fresh roasted in the whole bean. I know its fresh because some of the grounds lightly clump to the grinder when I dump them into the brew basket. I love the strong aroma of the coffee before and especially after grinding, but my wife does not. My point is you must be a fan of very dark coffee to throughly enjoy this coffee. I love it and to keep it fresh because it comes in a non resealable 2 lb bag, I keep it in a ziplock bag in a dark cupboard, one that I only use for coffee, because the light is not good for your beans. 2 lbs is large amount of coffee, depending on my amount of drinking each month of week I have had times where I have ran out before my next delivery and I have had only a half of a pound used when the next 2 lb box arrived. There are other variety of coffees from this same company but I don't care. This is the only coffee I drink at my house and will remain that way until they stop making it. I use the used grounds for composting and have no worries about it because this is organic coffee with out any nasty chemicals.

A very bold and dark roasted cup.
Not as earthy as Indonesian dark roasts like Sumatra.
I liked it better in the French press than the drip maker.
Plus, grown with care. Damn near perfect

    The daily Upper

    Cafe Altura Organic Peruvian Dark Coffee Beans;
My only question about this coffee is: Why does anyone buy any other coffee?
Well, no I do have another: If it is coffee, what should we call the other so called coffees?

    90% EXCELLENT COFFEE

Before I begin, you have to realize I'm one of the world's fussiest coffee drinkers. To wit: I bought a burr grinder because it is gentler on beans and reduces the bitterness coffee can have. And, of course, I grind fresh every morning.

The first week or two I was very impressed with the results. The coffee, while not as robust as some others, was very satisfying. after all. it is Peruvian, organic, and shade-grown. However, since this is a 2-lb. bag and lasts me a month, it has begun to lose its flavor. As a result, it is more ordinary, although not really bad. Perhaps I'll try the Dark Roast next time.

So my recommendation really depends on how quickly you will use it up.

    good brand

I prefer the Peruvian beans which would get 5 stars. All the Altura's beans came fresh and good quality so far.

    "solid coffee," from picky people

Simply put we are picky coffee drinkers who enjoy a nice dark roast coffee in the morning to get us going. We take our coffee black, without any sweetness, so we know when the coffee is good & when it isn't worth drinking. While this coffee is pleasantly balanced, without unwanted bitterness or acidity, it does lack some depth. Cafe Altura's Peruvian Dark Whole Bean coffee is a DARN GOOD cup!
We are happy to support, "Organically Grown Under Shade Trees & Family Farm & Fair Trade Grown." We like it very much, indeed, enough to enjoy Amazon's subscribe & save feature. Cheers!

    Switching back to French Roast.

I read the review on this and decided to try it instead of the French roast that I have been buying, but found the flavor not as robust as I would like. That said, I have cancelled my subscribe and save on this Peruvian Dark and moved back to Cafe Altura Organic French Roast.
