Cooperativa Agraria Rodríguez de Mendoza - This coffee is produced by members of Cooperativa Agraria Rodríguez de Mendoza (COOPARM), which is an association of approximately 650 small coffee producers from eleven districts within the Provincia de Rodríguez de Mendoza in the department of Amazonas, Peru. COOPARM was founded on October 27, 2007 to offer quality coffee while ensuring more income for its members. COOPARM provides comprehensive technical assistance to producers, from seed selection to coffee processing. COOPARM also has an integrated pest and disease management program aimed at teaching producers how to control coffee diseases such as coffee rust and coffee berry borer. COOPARM emphasizes practices that protect the environment, including a partnership with Fundacion Amazonia Viva that helps farmers earn income from the sale of Carbon Credit Offset when they plant native timber species. COOPARM, in collaboration with the local hospital, funds cervical and breast cancer screening for its members and the community.

Our favorite for how many years?

It's been 15+ years. We never looked back. Full bodied and what coffee should taste like.

A great dark roast

I buy this coffee on a regular basis as one of my go to roasts. Have tried many of the Altura coffees and typically enjoy them all. My favor of one over another is a narrow margin, but as I said this one is always included in my purchases. I drink it by the pot with or without heavy whipping cream by preference and it is great either way.

Not as earthy as Indonesian dark roasts like Sumatra. I liked it better in the French ...

"A very bold and dark roasted cup. Not as earthy as Indonesian dark roasts like Sumatra. I liked it better in the French press than the drip maker. Plus, grown with care. Damn near perfect"

High Quality Dark Roast Organic Coffee

"This coffee is great! The flavor is bold but not bitter. This one is very much a dark coffee. I save so much money making this at home rather than going to a coffee shop. I like that is comes fresh roasted in the whole bean. I know its fresh because some of the grounds lightly clump to the grinder when I dump them into the brew basket. I love the strong aroma of the coffee before and especially after grinding, but my wife does not. My point is you must be a fan of very dark coffee to throughly enjoy this coffee. I love it and to keep it fresh because it comes in a non resealable 2 lb bag, I keep it in a ziplock bag in a dark cupboard, one that I only use for coffee, because the light is not good for your beans. 2 lbs is large amount of coffee, depending on my amount of drinking each month of week I have had times where I have ran out before my next delivery and I have had only a half of a pound used when the next 2 lb box arrived. There are other variety of coffees from this same company but I don't care. This is the only coffee I drink at my house and will remain that way until they stop making it. I use the used grounds for composting and have no worries about it because this is organic coffee with out any nasty chemicals."

"Cafe Altura Organic Peruvian Dark Coffee Beans; My only question about this coffee is: Why does anyone buy any other coffee? Well, no I do have another: If it is coffee, what should we call the other so called coffees?"
